STOP Software Patents!

We are asking our representatives in the European Parliament to save Europe from software patents by following the
FFII voting recommendations

The Software Patents Directive, as approved by the European Council of Ministers, would codify US-style Software Patents in the European Union.

If that happens, software developers will no longer own what they write and can be sued for selling or distributing their own software.

This would not only endanger your job, but the entire European software sector. Patents on pure logic would even restrict the freedom of publication.

On the 6th of July, the European Parliament will have the last chance to prevent this. To do so, 367 of the 732 members must be present and vote for the right amendments.

These are the clarifications a directive must provide for an effective exclusion of software patents:

1.Computer program = computer-implemented solution.
2.The contribution must meet the requirements of patentability.
3.Data processing is not a field of technology.
4.Technology is applied natural science.

HA!, here am I again. Missed me no? Well, I was planning not to post anything until Terminal-Velocity finally uploaded CLUG planet (this is not gonna happen unless blizzard puts server boxes in Stormwind) , but lots of stuff happened, and right now I am bored so I will share it with you. First, I finally got my hands on my brand new i-mac (1.8Ghz, 1Gb ram,17'' tft widescreen) and I am especially happy with this new cutie. Planning to put linux on this when I finish with my exams at college.

That's for now, not that you care but once again I pwn you :P

Divide And Conquer

Well, I have left you in ignorance all this time. The first thing to say is OMFG C++ sux! Just finished my school project on Quad-Trees. The prof wanted that implemented in C++. Why? I think we have to unite to protest against such methods of torturing people. There are more OOP languages out there, and sure they dont require three billion seven hundred and fifty four million four houndred and twenty two point nine lines of code to assign a disk file to a stream (and an eternity and a day of debugging). I may post the project after I have converted it to python (because my c++ writing sux) , or better C#. It's kinda fun.

Now what is left, is some stuff in vhdl (write a report on the alu, instruction memory,pc, and memory access unit of a mips-like processor I have created in c++) as well as creating an FSM (finite state machine) that controls the flow of an instruction given. Oh well, I have to find a way to run Altera Max+Plus II successfully on Linux, because I hate dual-booting (maybe evaluate the vmware 5 workstation that was just released on 14th of April) .

Got stuff to do, Gotta leave.

A final thing, everyone repeat after me:
